Longboard Vineyards was established in 1998 by Oded Shakked, an Israeli-born surfer who fell in love with wine and came to California in 1984 to pursue his passion. Oded worked for iconic wineries, including Chateau Lafite in Pomerol, Domaine Chandon in Napa, and spent 18 years as the winemaker for J Vineyards & Winery. In 1998, he founded Longboard Vineyards and purchased vineyards outside Healdsburg in 2000. The winery produces small lots of varietal wines sold directly to consumers, with very limited distribution. Many of the wines are allocated and can only be found at the tasting room or obtained through member loyalty programs or select clubs like Sonoma Wine Shop.

Oded's mission is to grow or source vineyard blocks with the unique characteristics that create superior wines. Equally important to him are the owners and farmers, who are passionate about quality and fiercely individualistic, allowing him to craft exceptional vineyard-specific wines. Oded makes wines he enjoys drinking and loves to share them in a relaxed, non-pretentious environment.
